Reno-Tahoe International Airport (RNO) is more straightforward: hire counters for brands including Alamo, Avis, Budget, Enterprise, and Hertz sit inside the baggage claim area, with vehicles in the adjacent garage. Nevada has no toll roads statewide, so there is no toll package to evaluate at the counter. Fuel runs around US$5.00 to US$5.22 per gallon depending on city, with Reno typically slightly higher than Las Vegas — refuel before returning to avoid the hire company's fuel service charge, which can reach two to three times the pump price. Budget for an authorisation hold of US$300 to US$800 on a credit card in the primary driver's name; debit cards are not accepted. Drivers under 25 may face an underage surcharge, and international visitors whose licence uses a non-Latin script — Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, or Cyrillic — must carry an International Driving Permit alongside the original licence. Demand at LAS peaks between March and October, so booking early secures better availability and pricing.
